Student answer (Band 6.0)
The content shown on the television is mostly for the entertainment purpose and it does not necessarily mean that the audience has to be influenced by the content shown .
For instance, the dramas or movies which include the domestic violence or the fictional violence can influence the audience both positively and negatively.
Some people think that the violence which is portrayed on television is not something we should follow or adapt. In fact, it is purely for entertainment purpose only and should be taken as an entertainment rather than being influenced by it.
The other part of society brings a different perspective on the table regarding this issue and they think that it might be a source of entertainment but the people watching it are very likely to adapt this culture and start thinking that the violence is the only solution to many problems.
My take on this specific point is that we should not get influenced by everything we see on television . On the other hand i also agree that people do adapt this thing in their real life and they start behaving like that and then they feel proud and promote the violence. I think there should be some awareness programs against the domestic violence .
If we look at some past examples we will see that there are many cases which includes the violence and most of them includes the domestic violence.
I recall one of my childhood memory in which there was a guy in our neighbor hood who was a huge fan of Indian action movies and he got way too influenced by them that he started to carry a gun with him just to adapt the look of the hero in the movie. The police eventually arrested him and called his parents .His parents were soo embarrassed and were seeking forgiveness but police eventually put the boy behind the bars.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that violence can be seen as entertainment or as a negative influence, the arguments lack depth and analytical rigor. The personal example provided is relevant but occupies a significant portion of the essay, which detracts from the overall balance of the discussion. To improve, ensure that your arguments are supported by more generalized reasoning rather than relying heavily on a single anecdote. Your position is clear, but it could be more consistently maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'For instance' and 'On the other hand' are used correctly, but there is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within and between paragraphs. Some transitions feel abrupt, particularly when moving from the general discussion to your personal example. Improving the flow by using a wider variety of cohesive markers and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the logical progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band score. You rely on basic terms such as 'entertainment purpose' and 'influenced by', which are repeated several times. There are some instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'brings a different perspective on the table' (a mix of idioms) and 'adapt this culture'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more precise, academic vocabulary and collocations, and avoid repeating the same words throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include incorrect article usage (e.g., 'the television', 'the domestic violence'), subject-verb agreement errors, and punctuation mistakes, such as the space before the period in several sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for these small, recurring mistakes would significantly improve your score.
