Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many concerned individuals of society perceive view that non-realistic violence and fictional crime represented through different series and entertainment shows on mass communication media like television is kind of entertainment that will not change the mentality of individuals, while on the other hand many individuals believe that it would support crime related thinking and harsh behaviour. In my opinion, to a greater extent, I firmly believe that it would impact society and create negative consequences.

In modern entertainment era, choice for type of entertainment is not limited. Through the different media, for an example, television, mobile, computer and many other like films, web series, documentary and many more, people consume different genre of entertainment. Crime, thriller, suspense, murder, mystery are nowadays considered as most preferred choices of youths and adults. One of the most significant reason is considered as it gives dopamine release in brain and makes individuals feel happy. This results in entertainment lovers prefer to watch this kind of shows more frequently. If grown adults watch it with perspective of entertainment then there will be no need to worry about it. Individuals who watch this type of entertainment are mature enough to distinguish difference between fictional world and real world.

However, prolong consumption of violent entertainment can generate evil thoughts in consumer's mind. Numerous studies and theories are proof of human mind behaviour. Similar patterns and actions based on stored data. If majority thoughts of violent behaviour in consumer's mind, possibility of repeating or implementing same kind of action becomes higher. In recent time, Many news are example of individuals performing crime in society, similarly shown in films or web series.

Taking everything into account and considering both aspect, restriction should be made in form of law that do not allow certain age group and limiting level of cruelty in shows which can create harsh image in mind of individuals of society. Also, recording before these kind of shows should be played, conveying message that this is fictional story, we do not encourage violence in society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat uneven. For instance, the argument regarding 'dopamine release' is an interesting point, but the explanation of how violent media influences behavior is a bit generalized and lacks specific, concrete examples. While the position is consistent, the essay would benefit from more depth in the supporting arguments to move beyond surface-level observations. Overall, the response fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In modern entertainment era' or 'Taking everything into account and considering both aspect'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow could be improved with more sophisticated linking words and better control over sentence-to-sentence cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use less common items like 'dopamine release' and 'prolong consumption', though some word choices are slightly unnatural or imprecise, such as 'harsh image' or 'non-realistic violence'. There are also minor errors in collocation and word formation (e.g., 'Many news are example'). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. The student communicates effectively despite these occasional inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with articles ('the' is often missing), pluralization ('Many news are example'), and sentence fragments or awkward phrasing ('If majority thoughts of violent behaviour in consumer's mind'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they are persistent and occur in both simple and complex structures. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as well as ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with greater grammatical accuracy.
