Student answer (Band 5.0)

On television, we can have variety of darams with completely different stories and backgrounds which is full of suspense, curiosity, and entertainment. Which also tells us that we should not do bad with other peoples because anyhow we have to pay for it later. Some people thinks fictional violence portrayed on television is harmless entertainment. They think in that way because they owned a positive thinking process as compare to the others. They do not take things which happened in the drama seriously. They watched it for the source of entertainment because they just want to spend their time and want to amuse themself in this time. While on the other hand some people thinks that programs encourages violent behaviour. The reason is that they have completely different mindset as other people. Its nit their own fault that they take things in that way. Its just because somehow they have also suffered from the pain or sorrow that they do not expected it to happened . In my opinion, we should take program only as a leisure time activity or when you are not into the mood to do something. Watching programs are also a great way to enjoy and relax. furthermore, Eating some snacks and drink while watching series or any tv show is one of my favoritw thing which i do usually on weekend because at that moment i have alot of plenty time so instead of outing and going somewhere else i prefer to stay at home and watch interesting show

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views regarding fictional violence on television, but the development is superficial. While you mention that some see it as harmless and others as harmful, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. The explanation for why people hold these views relies on vague psychological assertions (e.g., 'positive thinking process' or 'suffered from pain') rather than logical analysis. Furthermore, your own opinion is not clearly integrated into the discussion; it appears as a personal anecdote about your weekend habits rather than a balanced conclusion on the topic. To improve, ensure each viewpoint is supported by clear, relevant reasoning and maintain a formal academic tone throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. It is written as a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. There is a lack of effective paragraphing to separate the two opposing views from your own opinion. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the abrupt transition 'furthermore' followed by a personal anecdote about snacks. The logical flow is hindered by the lack of clear topic sentences and linking phrases that would help the reader navigate between the different perspectives presented in the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'programs', 'things', and 'good/bad'. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'darams' (dramas), 'alot of plenty time', and 'not into the mood'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more academic vocabulary and collocations appropriate for an essay, and ensure that you are using words in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Some people thinks', 'programs encourages'), incorrect verb tenses ('they do not expected it to happened'), and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when you attempt more complex constructions. There is a lack of variety in sentence types, and the frequent slips in basic grammar (e.g., 'amuse themself', 'nit their own fault') indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a stronger grasp of fundamental English grammar rules.
