Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays , entertainment plays a key role in human lives . In this regards , it is believed by some people that fictional violence portrayed on television is harmful entertainment , whereas it encourages violent behaviour . This essay will outline not only both views but also my opinion which is in favour of latter viewpoint in upcoming paragraphs with logical conclusion .
on the one side , there are several reasons why people feels television is harmful entertainment . The first and foremost is that by watching television , people feels calm and happy. They avoid stress by watching television . Movies which are related to crime , people more relax because movie makes interest of people and they want to know about its ending also .
On the other hand , people disagree and think that encourage violent behaviour . The prime one is that young children may face difficulties to distinguish between violent and real behaviour . By watching television , they can get knowledge and understand about it . However , it is duty of parents to restrict their children to watch crime movies because there is impact on children . they try to do in their home or school .
In conclusion , although there are various reasons of former viewpoint such as avoid stress and feel happy yet according to me I think that it would be more beneficial if children restrict to watch fictional movies because there is a impact on children .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the argument that television helps people 'avoid stress' is stated but not sufficiently explained or supported with concrete examples. The second body paragraph attempts to discuss the negative impact on children, but the reasoning is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. To improve, you should expand on your points by providing specific examples or logical consequences, ensuring that your arguments are fully developed rather than just mentioned. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence needs more substance to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In this regards' and 'The prime one is that' are used, but they do not always flow naturally. There are also issues with referencing; for instance, in the second paragraph, the transition between 'watching television' and the specific mention of 'crime' movies is abrupt. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by these awkward transitions. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms such as 'good', 'bad', or 'happy', and there are some errors in word choice, such as 'people feels' (should be 'people feel') and 'restrict their children to watch' (should be 'restrict their children from watching'). There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'exposure', 'detrimental', 'influence', or 'mitigate', and pay closer attention to correct collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'people feels' instead of 'people feel' and 'movie makes interest' instead of 'movies generate interest'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles and prepositions to improve accuracy.
