Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people think that the combat shewn on screen to be innocent fun, while other argue that it promotes hostility and demgerous actions. But rather them considering it into innocent fun people should consider its impact on society.

To my understanding, the aggressive content on television should be controlled and monitorised properly before circulating it to the audience. Because this content are mostly consumed by audience of age-band of 12 to 20 years. The volience shown on television can affect the personality and minds of some audience. These affected audience can implement those voilent actions in their day to day life which can turn to be very harmful for the society. For instance, the most of the teenagers in USA have started fighting and aggressive wrestling after watching scripted wrestling shows like WWE. The people used to perform real action on others which caused minor to major problem to the affected ones. Due to this, WWE has started giving disclaimer about the stunts which should only be performed under supervision.

Even though, it has some negative impacts on few people we cannot ignore the other side. These action and fight scences broadcasted on the television is to give a better experience of content watching. Many people dont get affected due to the aggressive content they just enjoy it. For example, action movies like Avengers and Fast and Furios series are truly based on actions but the audience didnot find these movies to be aggressive and violent for society.

But the audience of age under 18 years are very subjective to the content they consume. Audience of this age gets affected very easily. Hence in order to avoid any aggression and to prevent encouraging violent behaviour the fictional voilence displayed on television should be monitored and controlled before its broadcasting to the public.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of WWE and the distinction between fictional violence and real-world impact. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the 'harmless' nature of entertainment is less developed than the counter-argument. While the position is clear, the essay would benefit from more nuanced exploration of why some people view it as harmless, rather than just stating that they 'enjoy it'. Overall, the task requirements are met, but the depth of analysis remains at a mid-level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'But rather them considering it into innocent fun'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the essay follows a standard structure, which helps the reader follow the argument despite some minor lapses in cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'shewn', 'demgerous', 'monitorised', 'voilent', 'Furios') and some awkward word choices, such as 'subjective to the content' instead of 'susceptible to'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'aggressive content' and 'scripted wrestling', the range is limited. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on accurate spelling and using more sophisticated collocations to express ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('this content are mostly consumed', 'the most of the teenagers') and incorrect preposition usage ('considering it into innocent fun'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence construction. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. More attention to basic grammar rules and proofreading for small slips would significantly improve the score.
