Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt regarding the impact of fictional violence on television, discussing the view that it encourages violent behaviour and the counter-view that it is harmless entertainment. A personal opinion is also provided, though it is somewhat brief and repetitive in the conclusion ('As per my opinion, fictional content makes positive effect on people...'). While the ideas are relevant, they are noticeably under-developed and lack fully explained examples or strong supporting evidence. The arguments tend to drift into general statements about censorship and OTT platforms rather than fully expanding on the core psychological effects of television violence. Consequently, the task response aligns best with Band 5, as the ideas are limited and the development is insufficient for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay has a basic organizational structure with attempts at standard transitional markers, such as 'To begin with,' 'On the other hand,' and 'To conclude that.' However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing, run-on sentences, and repetitive referencing. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas lacks clear thematic boundaries—for instance, the final paragraphs mix arguments about age restrictions with conclusions. Cohesive devices are sometimes used inaccurately or mechanically, and referencing pronouns (such as 'they' and 'it') are often ambiguous, making it difficult for the reader to track the subjects clearly. This performance reflects Band 5 characteristics due to the lack of clear overall progression and repetitive mechanical cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive throughout the essay. The student relies heavily on basic terms and phrases, such as 'fictional violence,' 'entertainment purpose,' and 'bad words.' There are numerous word choice and collocation errors, such as 'enhance hype' instead of 'gained popularity,' 'cartons' instead of 'cartoons,' 'grub positive' instead of 'glean positivity,' and 'sensory content.' Spelling and morphological errors also appear ('seance' instead of 'scenes', 'guide line' instead of 'guidelines'). While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary, the frequent inaccuracies and limited range restrict the lexical score to a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. The majority of sentences are simple or poorly constructed complex sentences that are frequently faulty, such as 'Moreover, if they have content which is makes negative impact on that age group people so that's really worst thing.' There are persistent errors in subject-verb agreement ('television program has', 'program has been watch'), tense consistency, and prepositions. Punctuation is also weak, with run-on sentences lacking appropriate boundary markers. Because the attempted complex structures often break down and errors are frequent throughout the text, the grammar aligns with Band 4.0.
