Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, violence is often shown in television programmes, movies and other forms of entertainment. Some pople believe that this type of of violence is only for entertainment and does not have any harmful effect. Howeve, other think that watching violent scenes can engourage people to behave violently in real life. This essay will discuss both view before giving my opinion.
On the other hand, there are several reasons why people consider fictional violence harmless. Firstly, most viewers understand that the violence shown on televion is not real, because programmes makers use computer graphics to shoot it. For example, people who watch action movies know that are part of animation and visual effects. They watch these mainly for excitement and enjoyble, not for learn how to behave. Secondly violent scenes can make a programme more interesting and attractive.
On the other hand, some people argue that television violence can encourage violent behaviour, especially among children. Young viewers may not fully understand the difference btween fictional and real violence. If they regularly see character using violence to solve probelms, they may start to believe that this is acceprable way to deal with difficult situations. Moreover, when violent characters are shown as heroes or are punished for their actions, childre may copy some of thier behaviour in real life. Watching violent programmes for many hours may also make people less sensitive to suffering other family mambers and frinends
In my opinion, fiction viownece not always have harmful particularly for adults who can clearly understand that it only entertainment. However, i consider that too much exposure to violent content cna have negative effects.
In Conclusion, fictional violent can be harmless entertainment for many poeple, but it many also infuence behaviour if users are exposed to it too ofter.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on fictional television violence and providing a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-extended, such as the distinction between real and fictional violence through computer graphics and the potential impact of violent role models on children. However, the progression contains some slight over-generalisations and the third body paragraph is a bit abrupt. The position is clear throughout, and despite minor developmental gaps, the response successfully satisfies the core requirements of Task Achievement, aligning well with the Band 6.5 to 7.0 profile. We award a Band 6.5 here because some of the supporting points, such as the final sentence of the second body paragraph, remain somewhat brief and under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is generally coherent with a clear overall arrangement into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments. However, there is a notable cohesive error in the structural signposting: the student mistakenly uses 'On the other hand' to introduce both the first body paragraph and the second body paragraph ('On the other hand, there are several reasons...' followed by 'On the other hand, some people argue...'), which disrupts logical progression and transitions. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally repetitive, and some sentences lack smooth connective tissue. Based on these mechanical faults in cohesion and referencing, the response firmly fits the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'fictional violence', 'computer graphics', and 'visual effects'. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'pople', 'Howeve', 'engourage', 'view', 'televion', 'programmes makers' (programme makers), 'enjoyble', 'learn' (learning), 'btween', 'character', 'probelms', 'acceprable', 'thier', 'viownece', 'entertainment', 'i' (I), 'cna', 'violent', 'poeple', 'many' (may), and 'infuence'. While these spelling mistakes do not completely impede communication, their high frequency prevents the lexical score from reaching Band 6.5, making Band 6 the most accurate reflection of the student's control over lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating subordinate clauses like 'because programmes makers use computer graphics to shoot it' and 'when violent characters are shown as heroes'. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors scattered throughout the text, such as missing articles ('know that are part of', 'if users are exposed to it too ofter'), incorrect verb forms ('not for learn how to behave'), and capitalization errors ('i consider'). Despite these recurring issues, the sentence structures remain comprehensible, and communication is rarely impeded. The profile corresponds directly to Band 6, which accounts for a mix of simple and complex forms alongside noticeable grammatical errors.
