Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is an ongoing debate regarding, violence shows on Tv for entertainment. A group of individuals believe that, what types of violence Tv or social media potrayed is harmless entertainment. However, others not entirely unison with that, it influence people to pursue violence and uplift an abusive behaviour. Therefore, ahead of my opinion, both views will be discussd further.

Examining the former opinion, the primary arguement the supporters would put forward is fictional violence is just pure entertainment form because people wants to reduce stress after a hectic day. This means that, people have an opinion what cruelty Tv industry shows us is for an amusement, people do not learn anything from this. For example, In bollywood industry there are lots of movies which contains lots of fights and actions however it gives some valuable message to public.

On the contrary, those in favour of the latter opinion havs their own arguments. To begin with, they claim that an aggression behaviour motivate people to choose violence because nowadays people repeatedly seen action and fighting scenes and theh try to do in real life. In the other words, a person who watch brutality more than often and for them in their mind it is normal for them to exposure an aggressive behaviour. For instance, many teenagers in India watch fighting scenes and action on the films and they influenced to fo in real life and when they are in such situations they started doing bloodshed with people.

To conclude offer my position, there are convincing arguments both for and against Tv violence is harmless or encouraged individuals. However, I certainly favour the former opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on fictional television violence and providing a clear, albeit somewhat contradictory, personal position. The introduction outlines the two viewpoints, and body paragraphs attempt to explore both perspectives. However, the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. For example, the argument that fictional violence acts as stress relief is stated rather than deeply extended, and the supporting examples, such as mentioning Bollywood movies, are vague and underdeveloped. Similarly, the counterargument regarding teenagers in India is generalised without specific supporting evidence. While the writer manages to maintain a stance by stating, 'I certainly favour the former opinion,' the overall depth aligns with Band 5 or Band 6. Because the ideas are presented with some relevant support and address all prompt requirements, it comfortably fits the Band 6 descriptor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion appropriately. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'Examining the former opinion,' 'On the contrary,' and 'To conclude,' which help structure the text. However, referencing and cohesion are frequently faulty or mechanical. For instance, awkward phrasing like 'Therefore, ahead of my opinion, both views will be discussd further' and 'To conclude offer my position' disrupts the natural flow. Additionally, pronoun referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences where subjects and objects become muddled. Paragraphing is present and logically attempts to separate the distinct viewpoints, but the mechanical transitions and occasional tracking errors prevent it from achieving a Band 7.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'hectic day,' 'fictional violence,' and 'aggressive behaviour.' However, there are numerous word choice, collocation, and word form errors throughout the text that hinder precision. Examples include 'violence shows on Tv' instead of 'violent shows on TV', 'what types of violence Tv or social media potrayed' containing severe grammatical and lexical confusion, 'an aggression behaviour' instead of 'aggressive behaviour', and 'exposure an aggressive behaviour' instead of 'be exposed to aggressive behaviour'. While these errors do not completely obscure meaning, their frequency and the noticeable inaccuracies in spelling ('discussd', 'arguement', 'potrayed', 'theh') limit the score to a Band 5.0, as they cause some difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting complex structures through relative clauses and conditional-like phrasing, such as 'a person who watch brutality more than often and for them in their mind it is normal.' However, these attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty and fraught with grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people wants', 'movies which contains', 'havs their own arguments'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing prepositions or articles. Furthermore, several sentences are grammatically incomplete or run-on, such as 'To conclude offer my position, there are convincing arguments both for and against Tv violence is harmless or encouraged individuals.' The high frequency of grammatical errors across simple and complex sentences places this response firmly at Band 5.0.
