Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowdays most of the movies uses fictional violence portrayed on television. this may cause different effect on different peoples like.

When a person see a fictional violance in television this may encourage some people to do the same. They would not brought second thought in their mind that to use this in good term or bad term the will uses that way as they pleased. Like in a mosvies if the main character of movie is shown to be drifting on a cars in the way he also break the trafic light the young generation find this cool and tried to copy that. Similarly many theives are caught by the police in differenr crime like bank reobery. Upon investigation it is found that they got the idea from the movie so they tried to do the same.

In other hand there are some peoples that took actual lesson behind that fictional movies. They think that this is only for entertainment purposes and this is harmless to any peoples. they think peoples only set the movie and entertain at that time and peoples dont try to copy the violancce that they saw in movies.

In my opinion movies should not portrayed the violance because msot of the peoples that watch them are misguided. like young peoples think that orignal and try to copay the same and don't think about outcome or the causes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to discuss both views regarding fictional television violence and provides a personal opinion, thus addressing all parts of the task broadly. However, the development is limited due to the under-length nature of the essay (232 words, failing the 250-word minimum requirement). Ideas such as the car drifting example and the bank robbery mention are introduced but under-developed and lack extension. The position is stated but lacks the depth and rigorous support expected at higher bands. Consequently, the task achievement is constrained by both word count and depth of development, warranting a band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is divided into four paragraphs, which shows an awareness of structural layout. However, logical progression is often hindered by abrupt transitions and poor referencing, such as starting paragraphs with phrases like 'In other hand' or repetitive sentence beginnings ('they think', 'peoples'). Cohesive devices are used mechanically and inaccurately throughout the response. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs often breaks down, making the flow somewhat disjointed and difficult to follow in places. This aligns closely with the descriptors for a band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and restricted, with noticeable spelling and word choice errors ('Nowdays', 'violance', 'brought' instead of 'brought', 'mosvies', 'reobery', 'copay'). The student struggles with basic collocations and word forms, using terms like 'good term or bad term' and 'orignal'. While the range is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic, the frequent errors and lack of sophisticated phrasing restrict the score to a band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled complex structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing capitalization, incorrect verb tenses, and agreement issues (e.g., 'most of the movies uses', 'this may cause different effect on different peoples like', 'the will uses that way'). Punctuation is also weak, with run-on sentences and fragmented expressions that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Given the frequency of errors and the limited control over complex structures, a band 4.5 or 5.0 is appropriate.
