In my opinion, while mature audiences can separate fantasy from reality, excessive depiction of violence poses a significant risk of encouraging aggressive behaviour, especially among younger viewers.

On the one hand, many people believe that violent scenes in movies and series are simply forms of creative entertainment that do not cause real-world harm. Most adults are fully aware that action films, crime dramas and superhero battles are scripted and fictional. For these viewers, watching dramatic or intense sequences serves as a safe way to relieve everyday stress and unwind, rather than an instruction manual for life. Furthermore, millions of individuals consume media containing fictional violence regularly without ever commiting criminal or aggressive acts, which suggests that violent actions are driven by deeper psychological or social factors rather than television alone.

On the other hand, there are valid concerns that exposure to televised violence can trigger and normalize anti-social tendencies. Children and adolescents, whose critical thinking and emotional regulation are still developing, often imitate what they see on screen. When characters solve conflicts through physical aggression or weapons and are portrayed as heroic, young audiences may internalize the idea that violence is an acceptable way to handle disputes. Moreover, continuous exposure can lead to desensitization, making viewers less empathetic toward real-life suffering and pain, which can eventually lower their threshold for engaging in aggressive actions.

In conclusion, although fictional violence is generally harmless fun for responsible adults, it carries clear risks of fostering aggression in impressionable audiences. Therefore, media platforms and parents should work together to implement strict age ratings and supervision to prevent vulnerable viewers from being negatively influenced.
