Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate on whether the fictional violence potrayed on media most likely televisions is harmless entertainment whilst, some people disregard it and think that it encourages violent behaviour. I am personally more inclined about the fact that it can be harmless and if people take it as a mere source of entertainment.
However, the growing concern of mental health issues and exposure of such graphic content can cause a serious damange to a person's brain and can compel them to enact such acts in their normal lives that is why very much important to have media literacy and what sort of media does a normal person consume as it not only creates a virtual reality but also sometimes causes them to imitate violent projections in reality. For instance, if you show a cartoon to a child where the cartoon is constantly trying to harm others and cause a havoc to the society the natural instinct of a child will be to learn and enact the things that the cartoon did in order to get the attention of the parents and peers.
On the other hand, if parents are already conscious about the type of content that is suppoed to be played for a child these problems can be eliminated. The scenario is different for an adult brain as adults have the capacity to think and make rational decisions based on their own thinking capacity. Normalizing violence is not an option as countries with strict content ratings, such as film classification boards, still see debate over whether restricting access actually reduces real-world aggression. It is solely based on a person on how they would presume a media content as it is just a source of entertainment and it should be presumed like one. Some content pieces are just for adults to be consumed that is why age censor-ship should be mandatory for age appropriate movies.
Violent media should be solely consumed in moderation and regulatory measures should be taken to make sure that individuals not make it a source of inspirations and rather learn how to defend themselves in such situations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on fictional violence—that it is harmless entertainment versus that it encourages aggressive behavior—and provides a clear personal opinion. The writer establishes a stance early on, stating that media violence can be harmless if viewed merely as entertainment, and develops supporting ideas throughout the essay. For instance, the distinction made between adult cognitive processing and child imitation adds relevant reasoning. However, some arguments tend to over-generalize, and the explanation of media literacy in the second paragraph becomes slightly convoluted. Overall, the task is adequately fulfilled, earning a Band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a clear overall progression and logical organization, with distinct paragraphs addressing different facets of the prompt. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'However,' 'On the other hand,' and 'For instance,' which help guide the reader through the arguments. Nevertheless, referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronoun use like 'such acts' and 'the scenario,' which occasionally obscures the connection between ideas. Paragraphing is used generally well, but the internal cohesion within the second paragraph feels slightly mechanical and dense. This places the performance firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common and topical items such as 'media literacy,' 'film classification boards,' and 'age censorship.' However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'potrayed' instead of portrayed, 'damange' instead of damage, 'suppoed' instead of supposed, and 'presuma' or 'presume' used incorrectly in place of perceive or interpret. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the writing from achieving a higher band, making a Band 6.0 appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over punctuation and syntax. There are, however, frequent grammatical errors and run-on sentences that require re-reading, such as 'that is why very much important to have media literacy and what sort of media does a normal person consume as it not only creates a virtual reality but also sometimes causes them to imitate violent projections in reality.' Punctuation and prepositional slips are also present, meaning that error-free sentences are not frequent enough to secure a Band 7.0. Therefore, a Band 6.0 is awarded.
