Student answer (Band 5.5)
The portay of dramatic violence on television has succeeded to gain the conflicting opinions of people. Some people believe that it is harmless entertainment and has no impact on society, while others believe that it motivates the aggressive nature. I believe that the fictional characters have influence on individuals thinking and violent fiction can promote criminal activities.
To begin with, disturbing scenarios on dramas and flims can lead the way towards criminal engagement. The presence of violence in digital tools provide an opportunity for criminals to learn the advance crime pattern. It will serve as a source of learning rather than entertainment because it is the most accessible source to gain the key format of live violence. For instance, they might observe the aggressive way people dealt with eachother and took it as a crucial medium to gain power and reputation as shown by the characters. The recent cinematic violence news have made it evident that the patterns are similar to fictional violence.
Although, television entertainment is produced as a harmless entertainment source, the impact it generated is undeniable. The new generation is involving more in fictional characters and taking them as their role model for their life. In such scenario, the negative aspects shown by those roles can influence their attitudes. Moreover, videos are regarded as effective meduim to learn by watch. Thus, such disturbing scenes on television can create falsified views toward social roles and responsbilities by changing the expectations of people.
In conclusion, the negative representation in the visual materials could lit the fire towards striking crime rates in the real world. Therefore, the fictional presentation must be bound by certain regularities to control violence portrayal.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on fictional television violence and providing a personal opinion. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, characteristic of this level. While the writer states that characters influence thinking and promote criminal activities, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific elaboration. For example, the mention of how people deal with each other and take it as a medium to gain power is introduced but not fully explored with detailed reasoning. The position is generally clear throughout the text, but the development remains restricted to brief statements rather than well-extended points, placing the fulfillment of the task at a partial level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a basic logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, establishing a coherent overall arrangement. Paragraphing is used to separate main ideas, such as discussing criminal engagement in the second paragraph and social role models in the third. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by mechanical or slightly inadequate cohesive devices. Transitions like 'To begin with', 'Although', and 'Moreover' are employed, but referencing and logical flow between sentences can feel abrupt, creating occasional jumps in thought rather than a smooth, seamless progression. The use of pronouns and repetition of key concepts also lacks the flexibility needed for higher levels.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing a sufficient range to discuss the topic of television violence. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'fictional characters', 'aggressive nature', and 'cinematic violence', but this is accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling. Examples include 'portay' instead of portrayal, 'flims' instead of films, 'advance crime pattern' instead of advanced crime patterns, and 'meduim' instead of medium. These lexical inaccuracies and occasional awkward collocations cause some strain for the reader, though the overall meaning remains generally clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a limited range of sentence structures, with frequent reliance on basic patterns alongside attempts at more complex sentences that often become faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar, articles, prepositions, and verb forms. Examples include 'succeeded to gain' instead of succeeded in gaining, 'motivates the aggressive nature' without a clear object or with incorrect article usage, 'is involving more in' instead of are becoming more involved in, and 'learn by watch' instead of learning by watching. Punctuation and agreement errors also appear throughout the text, creating frequent disruptions that require the reader to decode the intended meaning.
