Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on fictional television violence and providing a personal opinion, which places it within the mid-range of achievement. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on children's behavior relies on repetitive generalisations rather than fully extended arguments or concrete real-world examples. Phrases like 'kids can angry fastly' demonstrate that while the main topics of children's mental health and criminal inspiration are touched upon, they are not elaborated with the depth expected of higher bands. Your position is presented in the introduction and conclusion, but the supporting arguments lack comprehensive exploration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The essay displays some basic organisation, dividing the response into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and an unfinished conclusion. However, there is a distinct lack of clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the heavy reliance on transitional phrases like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'For instance' to stitch together fragmented thoughts. Paragraphing is attempted, but referencing is often unclear, as seen in confusing pronoun usage like 'so that's why some people are disagree on this'. Furthermore, the abrupt cutoff at the end ('I firmly believe tha') disrupts the logical flow and structural completeness of the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, attempting some less common items such as 'fictional violence', 'inspiration', and 'mindset'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word formation that cause some difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'crimial behaviour' (criminal behaviour), 'angry fastly' (become angry quickly), 'melth health issues' (mental health issues), and 'simple person' (ordinary person). Spelling errors like 'crimals' and 'thier' also recur throughout the text, showing that lexical control needs significant improvement for precision and accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response demonstrates a very limited range of structures, with frequent basic grammatical errors. Attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, leading to run-on structures and awkward phrasing, such as 'when we watch any fictional violence movie or web series on the television which is in the home so it will impact on the kids mind.' There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense consistency, subject-verb agreement ('thinks that it will encourages', 'both points has'), and missing or incorrect prepositions ('impact on his behaviour'). These frequent errors can cause difficulty and strain for the reader throughout the text.
