Student answer (Band 5.5)

While it is widely argued that fictional violence broadcasted on television is less concerning, others believe that it allow individuals to behave aggressively, I firmly agree with the latter statement that fictional violence in movies influenced many individuals to behave like the fictional characters, but restricting it permanently will not be the best measure to take.

First and foremost, excessive usage of weapons in cenimas should be regulated by policy makers. Multiple movies portray fake guns, military weapons as props, but using technology such as CGI and VFX to alter them for realistic scenes may have impact on viewers. Governments should regulate movie producers and makers to maitain their production under legal framworks, so it does not have detrimental impacts on spectators daily wellbeing. For instance, if government regulate film industry to reduce violence, crimes can be reduced because many criminals has been influenced by weaponization in movies.

Conversely, others argued that it should be considered as harmless passive entertainment. Although numerous cinema projects have been recorded to work under legal framwork of authorites, portraying weapons and ammunation in a postive way. However, it can have major drawbacks also which can influence multiple individual to live like fictional charaters, resulting an increase of crimes. Censor board must use strict limits for excessive violence and other explicit parts to cut off them from movies. This will enforce the producers to work under the limits and helps to control aggressive behaviours. A primary example can be seen in Pakistan where censor board have strict Islamic limits to be applied in broadcasting movies. Consequently, this development leads them to use a variety of topics to make films, instead of imposing extra violent scenes or nudity.

In conclusion, modern movies may include improper explicit scenes which can trigger many sensitive tabbos of different cultures although imposing legal framworks for cinema industry can bring us a change. Excessive violence influenced us in multiple ways, however it can be tackled down by implementation of such censorship systems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear position: you agree that fictional violence can influence behaviour, while arguing that permanent restriction is not the best response. The discussion of regulation and censorship is relevant, and the Pakistan example gives the argument some context. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The view that violence is harmless is introduced as “passive entertainment,” but the explanation mainly returns to its possible harms rather than showing why viewers might regard it as harmless. The link between violent scenes and reduced crime is also asserted rather than supported. To strengthen the response, explain the opposing view more fully and develop your own position with a specific, carefully reasoned example or evidence; clarify whether you support limits on excessive violence rather than broad restrictions on films overall.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “First and foremost,” “Conversely” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad structure. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track. The second body paragraph begins by presenting the harmless-entertainment view, then shifts quickly to drawbacks and censorship, so the contrast between the views is not clearly sustained. Some links are also mechanical or unclear, including “Although… However” and “Consequently, this development,” whose reference is difficult to identify. Organise each paragraph around one clear claim, explain it, and then give a directly relevant example. Use linking expressions selectively and make references such as “this development” explicitly identify the idea they refer to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “fictional violence,” “detrimental impacts,” “censor board” and “aggressive behaviours,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less precise. Examples include “cenimas,” “maitain,” “legal framworks,” “ammunation,” “postive” and “tabbos.” Phrases such as “weaponization in movies” and “tackled down” are not natural in this context. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, for example, “portray violence,” “influence viewers’ behaviour” and “address the problem.” Prefer precise, familiar wording over ambitious expressions when you are unsure of the collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if government regulate film industry…” and a concession in “Although numerous cinema projects…”. This shows an attempt to vary sentence patterns, and the main ideas are generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction. For example, “it allow individuals” should be “it allows individuals,” while “many criminals has been influenced” needs plural agreement. The sentence beginning “Although numerous cinema projects…” is incomplete, and “Although” followed by “However” creates a faulty connection. Practise checking each sentence for a complete main clause, then review agreement and article use. More accurate control of these structures would make your arguments easier to follow.
