Student answer (Band 5.5)
Fictional Violence is often portrayed on television for entertainment purpose but there are mixed opinions about it like some people think its harmless while a certain group of people thinks it has a negative impact on the audience.
The first group is of the view that its harmless because its just for entertainment purpose and its characters are not real. So people watch it for enjoyement and refreshment rather than taking it serious or copying those charatcers. They think they are just fictional so watching any kind of fictional videos doesn't do any harm to the audience.
The Second group is of the view that it has a very negative impact on the society because when people watch anything on television they try to copy it and do it in real. This fiction portrayed on television moulds their behaviour and in turn they become violent. Those any kind of violence are detrimental to the society.
I am of the view that fictional violence should not be portrayed on television because any kind of violence shown to people on television encourages people to do that in real. People are easily manipulated by things shown to them on television. People easily copies things and sits in their minds they often watch. So in my opinion, I disagree with those who say it is harmless. It is not harmless in any way because it promotes violent behaviour in the society. So fictional videos portraying any kind of violence should be discouraged to play on television.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state your own position clearly: you explain that some viewers see fictional characters as harmless, while others believe television violence can influence real behaviour, and you conclude that it should be discouraged. However, the discussion remains general and only partly develops the task. For example, the first view is supported mainly by saying the characters are not real, while the opposing view relies on the broad claim that people copy what they watch. No specific example or explanation distinguishes how or why different viewers might be affected. To strengthen the response, develop each side with a concrete example and explain the reasoning behind it, while keeping your own position consistent and supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a concluding paragraph that gives your opinion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive, particularly in the final paragraph, where the ideas that television influences people and promotes violence are restated several times. Linking phrases such as “The first group” and “The Second group” help signal the discussion, but the repeated formula makes the organisation somewhat mechanical. Some references are also unclear, as in “Those any kind of violence,” which interrupts the connection between ideas. Use more varied transitions and make each sentence add a distinct reason, example, or consequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the central argument, including “fictional violence,” “negative impact,” “moulds their behaviour,” and “detrimental to the society.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “people,” “television,” “violence,” and “harmless.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “for enjoyement and refreshment,” “taking it serious,” and “discouraged to play on television.” Spelling errors such as “charatcers” and “enjoyement” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise expressions and vary repeated terms; for instance, describe possible effects as “influence viewers’ behaviour” and say violent content should be “restricted” or “discouraged from being broadcast.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your writing communicates the main ideas, and you attempt to connect clauses using words such as “because,” “while,” and “rather than.” However, the sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at longer constructions are often inaccurate. For example, “People easily copies things and sits in their minds they often watch” has subject–verb agreement problems and an unclear clause structure. In “its just for entertainment purpose and its characters are not real,” the contractions and singular/plural forms are not controlled consistently. There are also errors in articles and sentence boundaries, including the comma splice in the opening sentence. Practise building accurate complex sentences, checking that each clause has a clear subject and verb, and reviewing agreement, articles, and punctuation.
