Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that the actions that are potrayed by action movies on television channels is harmless entertainment while some people say that the fictional movies encourages violent behaviour of people in the society. I personally believe that entertainment which we consume on television has effects on humans because it potrays the violent image towards audience and also consumes so much time of the public.
On the one hand, People argue that fictional violent movies has no effect on audience because people just take it as entertainment not as training that they will do it later in their real life. For example, Adults who watch action movies on television just for fun and then after watching they do not perform these actions in real life.
On the other hand, People think that children who watch adult action movies like killing other person in a movies lasts a longer impact on children minds so that they later do similar kind of act in their real life which is very dangerous and life threatening concern of the public. For example, a child in India played action game for month and after playing this deadlious game he killed his friend by the method used in that specific game. So people concern is right in the way that they are thinking.
In my opinion, this kind of entertainment consumes so much time of the audience and has no beneficial impact on the human's social life. So its all about the waste of their precious time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a personal opinion, so the response is relevant to the task. The contrast between adults treating films as entertainment and children potentially imitating violence is clear, and the example of a child copying a game illustrates the concern. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the harmless-entertainment view is supported mainly by a general claim, while the example about a child and a game is asserted without explanation or context. Your opinion focuses largely on wasted time rather than clearly judging whether fictional violence encourages violent behaviour. State your position directly and explain how the examples support it; develop both sides with more specific reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the contrast, and the examples are placed with the relevant arguments. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated reliance on “For example” and repeated references to “people” and “children.” The final paragraph introduces the idea of wasted time without linking it clearly to the debate about violent behaviour, so the conclusion feels somewhat disconnected. Use clearer referencing and connect each paragraph’s final point to your overall position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “fictional,” “violent behaviour,” “audience,” and “life threatening,” which makes the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts of the response harder to understand, such as “potrayed,” “deadlious game,” “lasts a longer impact,” and “people concern.” Repetition of “action movies,” “people,” and “entertainment” also restricts precision. Aim to use accurate collocations and vary key terms—for instance, describe a lasting effect on children or the imitation of violent acts. Proofreading spelling and word forms would make your ideas clearer and more appropriate for an academic discussion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “while” and a cause-and-effect explanation beginning “so that.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “fictional movies encourages” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Adults who watch action movies … just for fun and then after watching they do not perform” is awkwardly constructed. The sentence about children and “a movies” also contains several grammatical problems. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and separating long ideas into clear sentences; then add complex clauses once the basic structure is secure.
