Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a considerable debate going on if the portrayal of violence in fictional TV shows is harmless or does it facilitates violent behaviour more. Although both views have their own supporting explanations, I believe fictional violence to some extent has a negative impact on people especially the younger generation.
The supporters state that TV shows are mostly for entertainment purpose and individuals should be able to differentiate between fiction and reality. TV shows like, comedy series, movies, dramas are mostly watched for their funny and realistic portrayal of life. People are often so much affected by fictional characters they think of them as real life persons sometimes. For example, The character of Baker Bhai from a Humayun Ahamed drama called "Kothao Kew Nei" was so famous among public that they protested his death sentence. So it is understandable that sometimes people do not take TV shows as simple entertainment rather they try to relate to them.
The opposite opinon holders state TV series often gives people the ideas of violent behaviour which seems to be true in a lot cases. The younger generation try to copy a lot of things from TV shows either due to curiocity or to be cool. So sometimes they try to imitate the intimidating characters who often show violence as their resort to deal with others. It influences younger ones to think that violence can be the solution of anything that cannot be obtained normally. This type of thoughts often give rise to violence in society.
To conclude, I believe TV shows with violence scenes should be filtered sothat they do not glorify violence. Parental supervision on children watching TV shows is also required.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear position: fictional violence can negatively affect people, especially younger viewers. The first perspective is illustrated with the example of viewers protesting a character’s death, while the second explains how young people may imitate violent characters. These points are relevant, but they are not equally developed: the first example shows that audiences can become emotionally involved, rather than directly demonstrating that fictional violence is harmless. The claim that imitation can make young people see violence as a solution would benefit from a specific example or fuller explanation. Your conclusion offers practical measures, but could connect them more explicitly to your position and the arguments discussed. This gives the response a clear answer overall, with some ideas needing further support or clarification.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and phrases such as “The opposite opinion holders” signal a shift between perspectives. However, some connections are mechanical or imprecise. For example, “So it is understandable” does not clearly explain how the anecdote supports the harmless-entertainment view, and “This type of thoughts” refers back awkwardly to the preceding idea. The first body paragraph also moves from entertainment to audience identification without making the relationship between these points fully clear. To improve progression, use more precise referencing and explain how each example supports the paragraph’s main claim, rather than relying mainly on transition phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “portrayal of violence,” “differentiate between fiction and reality,” “imitate,” and “parental supervision.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and attempts such as “intimidating characters” and “glorify violence” show some range beyond basic wording. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “entertainment purpose,” “a lot of cases,” “curiocity,” and “sothat” are examples. “Violence as their resort” is also an unnatural expression, and “realistic portrayal of life” does not fit the point about comedy and entertainment clearly. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully. Greater precision in describing the relationship between screen violence and behaviour would strengthen the argument.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concessive opening (“Although both views have their own supporting explanations…”) and clauses explaining cause and effect. Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. In the opening, “if … or does it facilitates” combines incompatible structures; use “whether … or whether it facilitates.” There are also agreement and article issues in “TV series often gives” and “for entertainment purpose,” as well as the sentence fragment-like construction “The character of Baker Bhai…” after a full stop. The final sentence, “Parental supervision on children watching TV shows is also required,” would be clearer with a more natural grammatical pattern. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries while retaining your varied structures.
