Student answer (Band 5.5)

People on a large scale believe that movies which are based on science fiction, violence, thrill and mythical characters have a harmless effect on the audience. On the other hand, some of them disagree and say that such movies motivates to perform violent activities and prohibited practices. Both parties stand with their opinions in their points of view.

As far as I am concerned, such movies leave a bad impact on the younger generation. They believe that is possible in this world and they try to gain knowledge as well as experience related to the movie. It's a true incident which happened in 2019, a boy who watched Superman believed that if the actor can fly so why not him. He was 18 years old and he jumped from the 12th floor of a building which resulted in his death. When I was 13 years old, I was motivated by the movie Spiderman and bought 3 spiders from the pet shop. I allowed them to bit me 4 times and nothing happened to me. Suddenly I started feeling ill and I went through a complete treatment.

On the other hand, people who believe that it is harmless are middle aged people, they know such movies are based on science fiction. Such movies entertain the audience and develop an emotion of bravery and courage. The disclaimer of the movie advices that all the scenes are fake and do not try this at home. At last, don't fell in the illusions of such movies otherwise the results would be harmful

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state a clear preference in “such movies leave a bad impact on the younger generation.” The Superman and Spider-Man anecdotes make your concern concrete, while the disclaimer and entertainment value represent the opposing view. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the examples focus on extreme personal incidents, with little explanation of how fictional violence might influence behaviour more generally. The opposing argument is also brief, and the claim that middle-aged people regard these films as harmless is not supported. Develop each side with a reason and a relevant example, and make your conclusion explicitly weigh the two views rather than ending mainly with a warning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting your view, and a paragraph presenting the other view. Signposts such as “On the other hand” help readers identify the change in perspective. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. The opening lists several kinds of films, while the task is specifically about fictional violence on television; the connection is not explained. The two personal examples are placed together without a clear transition or comparison, and the final warning does not clearly summarise your position. Some linking phrases feel mechanical or imprecise. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “science fiction,” “violent activities,” “disclaimer,” and “audience,” and the examples are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less precise. For example, “movies motivates to perform violent activities” does not express the intended idea naturally, and “stand with their opinions in their points of view” is repetitive. “Gain knowledge as well as experience related to the movie” is also vague in this context. Aim for precise phrases such as “encourage viewers to imitate violent acts” and “hold opposing views.” Check word forms and spelling, including “advises” where “advises” is not the intended noun form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional idea in “if the actor can fly so why not him” and a relative clause in “a boy who watched Superman.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “such movies motivates” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “They believe that is possible in this world” is missing “it.” The long sentence beginning “It's a true incident” is awkwardly joined and would be clearer if divided into shorter sentences. There are also problems with verb forms and sentence construction, such as “I allowed them to bit me.” Practise accurate clause formation, agreement, and punctuation before adding more complexity.
