Student answer (Band 5.0)
Number of people believe that the violence portrayed in fiction is harmless type of entertainment, whereas others oppose this idea and claim that it implements aggressive behaviour in one's mindset. Although I agree that some types of fictional violence are harmless in some degrees, I firmly belive it is inevitable that these television programs can possibly support people to develop certain negative behaviours, especially that of children's.
Any type of harsh behaviour portrayed in movies, films and in shows can potentially hinder children's cognitive system. Especially when young children's minds are still developing, it might plant the notion that wrongdoings are common in this world and fine to act it out towards others. In the long run that child becomes outcast of the seciety if there is no parental boundary.
Programs and channels on television have variety of entertainment which includes violence. It is true that these actions portrayed in fiction often makes people excited and takes them on an emotional rollercoaster, which can make their channels more favoured by its audence. There is a research about children's behaviours that notes elementary school kids who watched agressive form of media

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You present a relevant position: you accept that some fictional violence may be harmless, but argue it can encourage negative behaviour, particularly in children. The discussion of children’s developing minds and the entertainment value of violent programmes gives the response a useful starting point. However, the two views are not both adequately discussed: the harmless-entertainment side is only briefly acknowledged, and the second paragraph ends before the research example or its relevance is explained. Your own opinion is present but needs clearer reasoning and support. The response also does not meet the 250-word minimum, which leaves the task substantially incomplete. Develop each view with a specific example, explain the evidence, and add a conclusion that restates your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, and the opening signals a contrast between the two views using “whereas.” The next paragraph focuses on possible effects on children, while the final paragraph begins to explain why violent programmes attract viewers. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the progression is incomplete: the last paragraph stops at “watched aggressive form of media,” so the example is unfinished and there is no conclusion. Connections between claims also need to be made more explicit; for instance, explain how the research supports your argument rather than leaving the reader to infer this. Use clear topic sentences and linking phrases to guide the discussion from one view to the other and then to your opinion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “fictional violence,” “aggressive behaviour,” “cognitive system,” and “emotional rollercoaster.” These choices show an effort to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. However, several expressions are inaccurate or awkward and reduce precision: “implements aggressive behaviour” does not clearly express the intended idea, and “parental boundary” is unclear in this context. There are also spelling errors such as “belive,” “seciety,” “audence,” and “agressive.” Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise phrases such as “influence children’s behaviour” and “parental supervision” would make your argument easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a conditional structure with “if there is no…”. The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and agreement occur. For example, “these actions portrayed in fiction often makes people excited and takes them” has a plural subject followed by singular verbs; use “make” and “take.” In “it might plant the notion … and fine to act it out,” the second part lacks a clear grammatical structure. The opening phrase “Number of people believe” also needs an article or a different construction. Review subject–verb agreement and ensure that each clause has a complete, clearly connected structure.
