Student answer (Band 5.5)

many individuals seems to think that the fictional violence show on digtal devices like television is harmless entertainment, while on the other hand many think otherwise because it improve violent behaviour. So in the course of this eassy i will be elaborting more on the both sides and give my own opinion.

To start with, watching television serve many purpose in our daily lives, for example after working through the whole weekdays many seems to relaxed on weekends, in there comfort zone which they considered more enjoyable rather than going out with friends.

However, many people like watching fictional violence in other to be self aware of what some are capable of doing on the outside world, which is very advisable and educational at the same time. It has nothing to do with there way of living which is a good thing. For example watching a movie about how criminals break into building can help you improve on your security even when at home or outside, that teaches you to be cautions of your environment at all time.

on the otherhand, many sees it as a way of learning violent behaviours which can be a huge problem to the community and it has a lot of disadvantages to the citizen and also the Government. For example watching movies like (Dexter) many individuals seems to pick interest in learning how to commit murder and how do it without been caught which can be very bad and harmful.

to end with, i agree that watching fictional violence is good only when its been use for Educational purposes but we cannot forget that some people are easily brainwashed by what they view on the television.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear, qualified opinion: fictional violence can be useful for educational purposes, but some viewers may be influenced by it. The examples about learning home-security precautions and the series “Dexter” are relevant and help explain the opposing arguments. However, the first view—that such violence is harmless entertainment—is not fully explored: the opening mentions relaxing at home, but does not clearly explain why fictional violence itself is harmless. Some claims, such as viewers learning to commit murder, also need more explanation or support. Develop each side more evenly and make the distinction between entertainment, education, and imitation clearer to strengthen your response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate discussion of the views, and a concluding opinion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the main points, and transitions such as “However” and “on the other hand” signal contrast. At times, though, progression is mechanical or unclear. The opening paragraph about relaxing after work does not connect explicitly to the claim that fictional violence is harmless, and “to end with” introduces a conclusion that could summarise the two arguments more directly. Some linking phrases are repeated, while references such as “it” in “It has nothing to do with their way of living” are not fully clear. Use more precise links between claims and examples.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “fictional violence,” “violent behaviours,” “criminals,” and “brainwashed,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less natural. For example, “self aware of what some are capable of doing on the outside world” is awkward, and “improve on your security” does not express the intended idea precisely. There are also misspellings such as “digtal,” “eassy,” and “elaborting.” Aim for accurate, natural phrases and check spelling carefully; a wider range of precise terms for influence, imitation, and entertainment would help you express the argument more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrast structure in the opening and a conditional idea in “only when it’s been use for Educational purposes.” However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. For instance, “many individuals seems” should use a plural verb, and “watching television serve many purpose” has agreement and plural errors. The sentence beginning “For example watching a movie…” also needs clearer punctuation and structure. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and build complex sentences around one clear main clause. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to read.
