Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people argue that the fictional violence visualised on television is harmless entertainment . Many of them disagree and think it promotes violent behaviour. I believe that it is depend on individuals age and purpose of watching entertainment.

On the one hand , the fictional violence portrayed on television is watch by mature people make sense because they watch that for only spend their weekends or entertainment purpose. They take it that as an acting not a real violence. For instance, many people watch anime because it shows different different characters with unique energies and individuals who watch they knows that it is only for fun purpose and some of them watch to protect their self to not get so much burden about professional and personal life.

On the other hand , it has some negative effects on younger generation because youth easily influence by what they watch on television without using their own mind they always encourage their self to be a person like on social media or television portrayed. Sometimes they learn abusing words and fighting which is not good for them so parents should always keep on eye on them what their off springs watch and search on internet and try to control their screen time.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that the fictional violence portrayed on television has its own advantages and disadvantages . It is totally depend on person who watch that type of shows or movie and how they adapt it in a positive way or a negative way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear personal position: you see fictional violence as dependent on the viewer’s age and how they respond to it. The two body paragraphs are relevant, with mature viewers treating programmes as acting and younger viewers potentially copying behaviour. However, the first view is developed more clearly than the second, and several claims need explanation or a specific example. For instance, the anime example describes entertainment and stress relief but does not directly show why fictional violence is harmless. Your conclusion restates your position, but “advantages and disadvantages” remains general. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms behind each view and support them with a more precise example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the reader can identify your position. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and shows some of the clearer progression associated with a stronger performance. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and links within paragraphs are not always smooth. For example, the first body paragraph moves from mature viewers to anime and then to relief from life’s burdens without clearly connecting these points. Use more precise referencing and explain how each example supports the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “fictional violence,” “violent behaviour,” “negative effects,” and “screen time.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “professional and personal life.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which can make meaning less natural. Examples include “visualised on television,” “different different characters,” “watch that for only spend,” and “keep on eye on them.” Choose more natural phrases such as “depicted on television,” “varied characters,” “watch it for entertainment,” and “keep an eye on them.” Greater precision and less repetition would make your argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrast between mature viewers and younger audiences and a reason introduced by “because.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, sentence construction, and punctuation are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “it is depend on individuals age” needs a correct verb pattern, while “the fictional violence … is watch by mature people make sense” combines clauses without a workable structure. In “youth easily influence,” the passive verb form is incomplete. There are also inconsistent spaces before commas and full stops. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and separating long ideas into complete sentences before adding more complex structures.
