Student answer (Band 5.0)
While some people believe that violence in fictional storytelling on televsion is a harmless source of entertainment, others agrue that it provokes violence in real life. In my opinion, violent fictional content can have negative impacts on people if it is not presented in controlled manner.
On one hand, individuals that advocate the T.V. shows displaying violent fictional stories agrue that it cannot have harmful impacts on society if the content if confined to adults. They believe that adults, as compared to children, are sane enough to comprehend the fakeness of fiction, therefore they can enjoy the fiction without letting it into thier lives. On the other hand, the people of the contrasting view believe that some violent fictional content on T.V. is presented as charming, encouraging people to replicate the violent behaviour.
I believe that controlled and well presented fictional content can be a harmless source of entertainment, regardless of it displaying violence to a certain extent. If T.V. shows display violence, they also should prese

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You introduce both views and state a position: fictional violence may be harmful when it is not presented in a controlled manner. The discussion of the first view gives a relevant reason—that adults can distinguish fiction from real life—and the second view notes that attractive portrayals may encourage imitation. However, the response is only a partial answer: the ideas are brief, there is no supporting example, and the final paragraph stops mid-sentence (“they also should prese…”), so your own view is not fully explained. The response also contains 167 words, below the required 250. Develop each side with a specific example, explain your position more fully, and complete the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting contrasting views, and a paragraph beginning to explain your opinion. Signposting such as “On one hand” and “On the other hand” helps readers follow the comparison. However, the progression is limited because the discussion ends abruptly in the middle of a sentence, and the final paragraph does not reach a complete conclusion. Some linking is also mechanical, with the two sides presented in a formulaic sequence rather than developed through connected reasoning. Use separate, fully developed paragraphs for each view and your opinion, and connect claims to explanations or examples so the argument progresses clearly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “fictional storytelling,” “violent behaviour,” “confined to adults,” and “replicate.” These choices make the subject clear and show some ability to use less common language. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “televsion,” “agrue,” and “thier.” Some phrasing is also awkward or imprecise, such as “the fakeness of fiction” and “the people of the contrasting view.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, for example, “recognise that fictional events are not real” and “those who hold the opposing view.” A wider range of precise expressions would also help you explain the effects of television violence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a conditional in “if it is not presented in controlled manner” and a comparison in “as compared to children.” Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but some grammatical errors remain. Articles are missing in “in controlled manner” and “displaying violence to a certain extent”; the latter also sits awkwardly in its sentence. The phrase “if the content if confined to adults” contains an incorrect repeated verb, and the final sentence is incomplete (“they also should prese…”). Practise checking articles and verb forms, and ensure every sentence has a complete clause. More accurate complex sentences would make your reasoning easier to follow.
