Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people think that the fictional violence displayed on television is harmless entertainment. Others disagree and think that it encourages violent activities. I consider violence potrayed on media promotes violent behavior in public.
Firstly, it is scientifically proven that our activites are profoundly influenced by the content we consume through media. Media is a great tool that have impact on our thinking and on our actions. We should not ignore media`s role in mass compaigns to divert public opinion.
When people are exposed to violent content, they are more prone to have violent behaviour. Such people are more irritated, depressed, angry and short tempered. The reason is simple, their mind will behave what it has been fed.
For example, there are number of violent events happened in history. Those incidences have strong ties with the excessive exposure to violent social media activities.
Some people also consider unreal violence showed on television is harmless. They think its a form of entertainment only. Mostly movies and shows also display disclaimer but we can not ignore the foundational thinking wiring of brain cells called neurons. Let me give an amazing fact that even if we imagine about something our brain will produce the same neurotrasmitters that are produced only when that activity is done in real life. So our brain have no differentiation for the imagination (unreal) and the reality.
Concludingly, in my opinion, violence displayed on television have a great influence on our mind. It is not an harmless entertainment and it should not be taken causually.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear opinion that televised violence can promote violent behaviour, and you offer reasons, including the possible influence of repeated exposure. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the harmless-entertainment position receives only a brief description of what its supporters think; its reasoning is not explored. The examples are also insufficiently specific: “violent events happened in history” does not identify an event or show a clear link to media exposure. The claim about brain activity is relevant but needs reliable explanation and support. The response is 242 words, below the 250-word minimum; the 13 words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop both sides and add a concrete, explained example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, supporting paragraphs, a paragraph acknowledging the opposing view, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “For example,” and “Concludingly” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression is not always clear: the paragraph about media campaigns does not connect explicitly to the claim about fictional violence, and the historical-events example is too vague to advance the reasoning. The opposing view is introduced late and developed only briefly. Some links are mechanical, and references such as “Such people” and “Those incidences” do not clearly identify specific groups or events. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s purpose, then connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “violent content,” “public opinion,” “disclaimer,” and “neurons,” which helps communicate the subject. There is also an attempt to use more formal language, such as “profoundly influenced.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices reduce precision: “violent activities” is not the most natural description of behaviour, “foundational thinking wiring” is unclear, and “incidences” is not the appropriate word for events in this context. Spelling errors such as “potrayed,” “activites,” and “neurotrasmitters” are noticeable. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling; clearer wording will make your argument more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including the conditional structure “When people are exposed to violent content, they are more prone to have violent behaviour.” Meaning is generally understandable, but errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “Media is a great tool that have impact” should use a verb agreeing with “tool” and a more complete noun phrase; “there are number of violent events happened” combines incompatible structures; and “our brain have no differentiation” has an agreement error. The sentence beginning “Let me give an amazing fact that…” is also awkwardly constructed. Practise building accurate clauses and checking singular/plural agreement, articles, and verb forms before adding more complex ideas.
