Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and give a position, saying the violence is generally harmless entertainment but can have harmful effects. The examples about stress relief and children copying aggressive behaviour are relevant, but they are brief and not fully explained; the claim that young people watch to learn fighting techniques also needs clearer support. Your opinion is not entirely consistent: the opening says it is harmless, then adds drawbacks, while the conclusion mainly contrasts benefits and harms without clearly weighing them. The response is 235 words, so it is 15 words below the required minimum; 31 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or example and state your overall judgement more decisively.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main sides of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several points are presented as short, loosely connected statements rather than developed reasoning. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” are useful, but “While” and “Although” are used awkwardly, and “Not only that” does not lead to a balanced continuation. References such as “it” are sometimes unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one central claim, explain it, and then connect the example explicitly to that claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “fictional violence,” “harmless entertainment,” “aggressive behaviour,” and “detrimental,” so the reader can follow the general discussion. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, especially “fictional violence” and “children’s minds.” A number of word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “practice to watching,” “stress is significantly growth,” “harmfull,” and “negativily affected.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding difficult words: for example, describe violence as “may encourage aggression” or “can have a harmful effect on children.” Proofread spelling and use a wider range of precise terms for the effects discussed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, including “while I believe…” and “Although, parents address the issue…,” but these are often faulty, and most sentences rely on simple patterns. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently and sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “fictional violence are help” has incorrect agreement and verb form, while “watching violent scenes on television may encourage children to engage…” is a clearer, well-formed sentence. The opening also joins “while” and “but” in a way that creates an incomplete or awkward structure. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking that each sentence has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
