Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often said that the fictional violence portrayed on televission is harmless entertrainment, while others argue that it encourages violent behaviour. I think that movies or TV program that demonstrates acting violence are not harmful.

On the one hand, I agree with those who think that violence containing TV content are harmless entertainment. This is because people who are consuming these are well aware that it is acting. Those movies or shows people watching on Televission just to get entertaint. For example, some people like watching action movies. They might watching it whenever they have free time. After going back home from work, people watch anything on their televission including violence movies which they may like. As a result, it help people to refresh their mind and get entainment that they actually need.

On the other hand, some people think that it encourages violent behaviour. One of the reason people feelconcerning about this because sometimes immeture teenegers get motivated from these violent movies acting and then try to act such way with other people in real life. For example, sometimes we are seeing that these teenegers are doing violent act that they get motivated from movies on protest. They wear spiderman character clothes on any protests and then try to do destruction as much as they can. As a result, these movies sometimes make them violent.

In conclusion, although there are pros and cons on bothn sides. I think that

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You present both views and state your opinion in the introduction, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the position is not completed: the conclusion ends, “I think that” without giving your final view. The supporting ideas are also limited and under-developed. For instance, you explain that fictional violence can refresh viewers, but do not clarify why this makes it harmless; the example about teenagers imitating violence is difficult to follow and needs a clearer explanation. The response also falls 9 words short of the required 250-word minimum. To strengthen the answer, complete the conclusion, explain each view more fully, and use a specific, clearly connected example for each.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion opening. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the contrast, and examples are placed with the relevant arguments. However, the overall progression is weakened because the conclusion is unfinished, leaving your position unresolved. Some links between ideas are unclear: the move from teenagers copying films to wearing Spider-Man clothes at protests does not explain the connection to violent behaviour. Repeated use of “As a result” also makes the linking feel mechanical. Develop each paragraph around one clear point, explain how the example supports it, and finish with a complete concluding statement.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “fictional violence,” “violent behaviour,” “action movies,” and “motivated,” which helps communicate the main subject. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “televission,” “entertrainment,” “entertaint,” and “immature” misspelled as “immeture.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “violence containing TV content” and “doing violent act.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “violent scenes,” “imitate aggressive behaviour,” and “fictional portrayals” would help you express the ideas more clearly without relying on repeated forms of “violence” and “entertainment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few complex structures, including “although” and “because” clauses, and most of the main ideas can be understood. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, verb forms, and agreement. For example, “movies or TV program that demonstrates” has a number-agreement problem, while “They might watching it” needs a verb form such as “might watch.” In “it help people,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “One of the reason” needs a plural noun. The final sentence is incomplete, which also prevents the conclusion from being grammatically complete. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, then proofread agreement and sentence endings.
