Student answer (Band 5.0)

It has been argued that whether fictional violance played on television is safe or it influences violent behaviour. I belive seeing violence in television can impact on human behaviour.

Firstly it has been believed by people that seeing violence in televison doesnt cause any harm.So many children grew up seeing them in television. Our mass medias display violence in social media as fiction. They show this as a form of refreshment.

I oppose this entertainment. i think human repeats things sees regularly. It can affect a persons psychology and as a result it can influence him to get involved in doing violence in real life as well.

A lot of researches have been done before, which revealed humans engaged in crime were influenced by virtual violence. It can be anything. For example, online destructive games, movies, series can affect the mentally of the viewers.

Our government can play a vital role in this issue. They can impose rules and censor board of the governemnt can control the violent content from the media. Overall, we all can be careful. We can keep a close eye on our children so that they are unable to see anything that can influence them to be violent in real life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear view—“I believe seeing violence on television can impact on human behaviour”—and you explain the concern that repeated exposure may affect viewers’ psychology and behaviour. However, the discussion of the opposing view is only briefly stated: the claim that fictional violence is harmless because it is “a form of refreshment” is not explained or supported. Your own position is present, but the examples and research claim remain general, with no specific illustration of how viewing might influence behaviour. The response also contains 203 words, below the required 250, so the task is only partially developed. To strengthen it, explain both perspectives in more depth and add a relevant, specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: it introduces the issue, presents the harmless-entertainment view, gives your opposing position, and ends with possible action. Linking phrases such as “Firstly,” “For example,” and “Overall” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression is limited because the first body paragraph gives little explanation, while the next moves quickly from personal opinion to a broad research claim and then to government controls. Some connections are unclear, such as “It can be anything,” which does not clearly refer to a specific idea. Develop each paragraph around one main point and use clearer references and transitions to show how evidence supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “fictional violence,” “violent behaviour,” “psychology,” “crime,” and “censor board,” so the reader can follow the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, such as “refreshment” for entertainment, “affect the mentally,” and “mass medias.” Spelling errors, including “violance,” “belive,” and “governemnt,” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not make the overall meaning impossible to understand, but they sometimes make the wording awkward. Build a more precise set of expressions for discussing media influence, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, for example, “It can affect a persons psychology and as a result it can influence him to get involved in doing violence in real life as well.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to process. Examples include “whether fictional violence … is safe or it influences,” “humans repeats,” and “things sees regularly”; these show problems with clause structure, agreement, and verb forms. There are also missing apostrophes and inconsistent capitalisation, as in “doesnt” and “i.” Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, and proofread for agreement, articles, and punctuation.
