Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have identified the main features and provided a clear overview. However, there are significant inaccuracies in your data reporting. For instance, you state that 'no serious and slight injuries were recorded during 2006-2007', which is not supported by the data provided. Additionally, your interpretation of the percentage increase figures is confusing; you mention '4005' for slight injuries, which appears to be a misreading of the table. To improve, ensure you carefully cross-reference the data points with your text and focus on reporting the most significant trends rather than listing individual figures without clear context. The overview is present but lacks precision.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Looking first at' and 'Turning to', which help guide the reader. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by the inaccuracies in the data reporting mentioned above. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the trends more fluidly. Overall, the structure is functional and follows a standard report format.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, using terms like 'fluctuating trend', 'proportion', and 'witnessed an increase'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'crime activities' instead of 'criminal activities' and 'small incline' instead of 'slight increase'. Some of these errors, combined with the data misinterpretations, make the information slightly less precise. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and ensure that your terminology accurately reflects the data presented in the table.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'number of total injuries was highest' (should be 'the number'), 'count increase' (should be 'increased'), and 'rate of injuries was fluctuated' (should be 'fluctuated'). These errors are noticeable but do not generally impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences will help you move into the higher band range.
