Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by summarizing the provided data, but it lacks clarity and precision. While you identify some trends, the description of the data is often confusing, particularly when referencing specific years and figures. For instance, the mention of '18)' and '405' at the end is unclear and does not accurately reflect the table's data. To improve, ensure you select the most significant features—such as the overall upward trend in minor injuries versus the fluctuations in fatal ones—and present these with accurate data points. The overview is missing, which is essential for a high band score in Task 1.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. Phrases like 'while as' and 'the year 2004 and 2005 shows' are grammatically and cohesively weak, making it difficult to follow the comparison between different injury types. Using a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') would help connect your ideas more fluidly. The referencing is sometimes ambiguous, making it hard to determine exactly which data point you are discussing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'injuries' and 'concerns' in ways that are not always precise. For example, 'acute injuries' and 'small injuries' are used where 'serious' and 'slight' would be more accurate based on the prompt. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'fatality' used as a count noun. To reach a higher band, try to use more varied terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'a significant surge'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The year 2004 and 2005 shows'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures (e.g., 'fatality in UK... that were acute and small injuries'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of parentheses and sentence fragments. While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors occur throughout the text and occasionally impede the flow of information. Focusing on basic sentence construction and verb tense consistency will improve your accuracy.
