Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant data points to support your summary. You covered the fatal, serious, and slight injury categories and included the percentage increases as requested. However, the report could be improved by better grouping the data. For instance, the transition between the 1998-2002 period and the 2003-2007 period is a bit abrupt. Additionally, ensure that your comparisons are more explicit; rather than just listing numbers, try to contrast the categories more directly to highlight the disparity in growth rates between fatal and slight injuries.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'However', and 'Meanwhile' to link ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical. For example, the final paragraph lists statistics in a way that feels like a series of isolated sentences rather than a cohesive analysis. Improving the use of referencing (e.g., 'this figure', 'the latter') would help the text flow more naturally and reduce the repetitive structure of your sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, using terms like 'soared', 'declined', and 'rose'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'leading over the period of time' is not a standard way to describe data trends; 'predominated' or 'accounted for the highest number' would be more precise. Additionally, there is some repetition of the word 'increased' and 'percentage'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more varied synonyms for growth and decline will help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage. For instance, you wrote 'the percentage of slight injuries were massively increased' (should be 'was') and 'the total percentage were increased' (should be 'was'). There are also minor issues with preposition usage, such as 'In between 1998'. Despite these errors, the communication of the data remains clear, and the errors do not significantly impede the reader's understanding of the statistics.
