Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the data, including the categories of injury and the overall trends. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. While you identify the highest and lowest categories, the description of the data is occasionally confusing, such as the mention of '342%' without clearly linking it to the specific category it represents. To improve, ensure that every figure cited is clearly attributed to the correct category and time period. The overview is present but could be more precise by highlighting the general upward trend across all categories rather than just listing the extremes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Looking at the table in more detail' and 'Similarly', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the logical flow between sentences in the third paragraph is slightly disjointed. For instance, the jump between different years and categories could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'criminal offence', 'accounted for', and 'amounted to'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and form, such as 'slightly injuries' (should be 'slight injuries') and 'the figure of fatal' (should be 'the number of fatal injuries'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using correct collocations and ensuring that adjectives and nouns are used in their appropriate forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'criminal offence by using gun and knife' (should be 'offences involving guns and knives') and 'the end of the period' (should be 'at the end of the period'). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of prepositions and plural forms.
