Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response covers all requirements of the task. You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant comparisons between the categories of injury. The overview is clear and highlights the key differences in scale and growth. You have also correctly extracted the percentage increases and specific data points. To reach a higher band, ensure that you consistently distinguish between the trends for each category more precisely; for instance, noting that while slight injuries saw the highest percentage growth, fatal injuries remained relatively stable compared to the others. Overall, the information is well-selected and accurately reported.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Each paragraph has a central focus, which helps the reader follow the progression of information. You use cohesive devices such as 'Regarding the figure for', 'As for the remaining', and 'By the end of the period' to link ideas effectively. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the trends from the percentage data, which enhances the overall readability of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. Phrases like 'substantial increase', 'fluctuated', and 'degree of injury' are used appropriately. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'most percentage of increase' (should be 'highest percentage increase') and 'casualty ranging' (should be 'casualties'). However, these errors do not impede communication. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations related to data reporting, such as 'witnessed a sharp rise' or 'remained relatively constant'. The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for a clear presentation of the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'the total numbers of gun and knife crime continue to rise' (should be 'continued to rise' to match the past timeframe) and 'other two degree of injury' (should be 'degrees'). Punctuation is generally correct, and the sentence structures are clear. While you attempt complex sentences, they are sometimes slightly repetitive in structure. Increasing the variety of your sentence patterns and ensuring consistent tense usage (maintaining the past tense for historical data) would help elevate your score in this criterion.
