Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all categories (fatal, serious, and slight injuries) and included relevant comparisons, such as the peak years and the overall growth. The inclusion of specific data points from the table effectively supports your analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure your overview is more precise; for example, noting that slight injuries were the primary driver of the overall increase would provide a stronger summary of the data's significance. Overall, you have addressed the requirements of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that group information by category and trend. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In 1998-1999', and 'Consequently' to guide the reader through the data. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed analysis. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the general context to specific trends. To improve, ensure that referencing is always precise; for instance, in the second paragraph, the phrase 'in same years' is slightly unclear and could be better linked to the specific timeframes mentioned.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'ensuing', 'fluctuating', and 'substantially'. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, which is generally successful. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice or collocation, such as 'numbers were escalated' (which should be 'numbers escalated' or 'numbers were increased') and 'accounted from' (which should be 'accounted for'). These errors do not impede communication, but refining these collocations would enhance the precision of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear, and the grammar is generally accurate. There are a few minor errors, such as 'the least number of injuries accounted from' and the passive construction 'numbers were escalated'. Additionally, 'while with slight harm considered in same years' is a slightly awkward construction. Despite these occasional slips, your control over grammar is good, and the meaning is always easy to follow. Increasing the variety of complex structures would help push your score higher.
