Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the data, including the overall trend and specific figures for fatal, serious, and slight injuries. You successfully identified the significant growth in slight injuries and the relative stability of fatal ones. However, the report is slightly hampered by minor inaccuracies in data interpretation, such as the total percentage increase calculation. While you have selected the main features, the analysis could be more precise by consistently comparing the start and end points of the period. The inclusion of a clear overview is a positive feature, though the summary of the total percentage increase in the conclusion is slightly confusing given the data provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for specific trends, and a concluding summary. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Moreover', 'instead', and 'As regard' to link ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or grammatically awkward, such as 'As regard the percentage increase'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by varying the structure of your cohesive links. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed analysis, which helps the reader follow your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'substantial growth', 'evident proportion', and 'degree of injury'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'the number of slight is passed' instead of 'the number of slight injuries rose' and 'most warring growth' instead of 'most alarming growth'. Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'substancial' and 'ot' instead of 'of'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score as they indicate a lack of precision in vocabulary usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the number of serious injury are increased') and incorrect verb forms ('the number of slight is passed'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are inconsistencies in how you present percentages and data points. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
