Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and selecting key features such as the trends for fatal, serious, and slight injuries. You successfully identified the main trend of an overall increase and highlighted the most significant growth in slight injuries. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the categories throughout the body paragraphs rather than just listing the data. The overview is concise and effectively captures the main message, which is a strength. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurately transcribed, as there are minor discrepancies between the provided table and your summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from general trends to specific data points. You use cohesive devices such as 'At the beginning of the period', 'Similarly', and 'By contrast' to link your ideas effectively. However, the paragraphing and flow could be slightly more sophisticated. Some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a solid band 6.5 or 7.0 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuating', 'dramatic rise', and 'substantially'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'substaintially' and 'faling', and minor issues with word choice, such as 'accounted the greatest growth' (should be 'accounted for'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the occasional errors in spelling and collocation prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on precision in word choice and ensure that you are using collocations correctly, such as 'accounted for' rather than just 'accounted'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, including missing articles ('the great britain', 'number of different kind'), incorrect verb forms ('total number of injury'), and punctuation issues (e.g., the comma before '3,296'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these are recurring issues throughout your writing.
