Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the task by summarizing the main features of the provided table. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify the peak years for each category, the description of trends is vague (e.g., 'rose steadily for upto 6 years'). Furthermore, the interpretation of the percentage increase data is slightly inaccurate, as you describe it as 'recovered' people, which is not supported by the data. To improve, ensure you provide more precise data points and avoid making assumptions about the nature of the injuries that are not explicitly stated in the table. The overview is present but lacks a clear synthesis of the overall trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally mechanical (e.g., 'While most of the injured people...'). The transition between the description of the trends and the percentage increase section is abrupt. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your sentences and paragraphs more fluidly, ensuring that the relationship between the data points is clearly articulated for the reader.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic descriptors like 'highest' and 'rose'. There are also some awkward phrasing choices, such as 'number of fatals' and 'subsequent number of people had increased degree of injury'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'peaked', 'fluctuated', 'significant', or 'dramatic', and ensure that your word choices are contextually accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'The highest number of fatalities resulted in the year 2001-2002 which was 95', where the subject-verb agreement and reference are unclear. Additionally, there are issues with capitalization (e.g., 'In the year') and punctuation. To improve, focus on sentence construction, particularly in ensuring that relative clauses are correctly attached to the nouns they modify, and proofread for minor errors in articles and prepositions.
