Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the overall trends and the specific categories of injury. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data from the table. However, to reach a higher band, ensure that your comparisons are more precise. For example, you mention that fatal injuries fluctuated, but you could have more clearly contrasted the significant growth in slight and serious injuries against the relatively smaller change in fatal injuries. Additionally, ensure that all data points are accurately interpreted; your description of the percentage increases is generally good, but ensure the distinction between the number of injuries and the percentage growth is always clear.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall' and 'In addition', to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences could be improved. Some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing is a bit unbalanced, with the second paragraph being quite short. To improve, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus. The referencing is generally clear, but ensure that pronouns or linking phrases connect ideas more fluidly to avoid a 'list-like' feel.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'consistently', and 'accumulation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'the number fatality of all type increased' (should be 'the number of fatalities of all types') and 'which responsible for' (should be 'which was responsible for'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensure that your word forms (nouns vs. adjectives) are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the crime involving gun and knife' (should be 'crimes involving guns and knives'), 'the fatal injuries are the least' (should be 'were the least'), and 'the number it was in 1998-1999' (should be 'the number it was in 1998-1999'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of the text. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage.
