Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the data provided, but there are significant issues with accuracy and clarity. You have identified some key figures, but the interpretation of the data is often confusing or incorrect. For example, you mention a 'proportion' of 864 and 1195, which seems to misinterpret the raw numbers provided in the table. Furthermore, the description of the trends is inconsistent, and the final paragraph contains contradictory information regarding the 'zero' level and the final figures. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe the data and focus on clear, comparative reporting of the main trends rather than listing isolated figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently interrupted by unclear phrasing and awkward transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Following this' and 'In contrast', they are often used incorrectly or do not logically connect the preceding and following ideas. The referencing is sometimes ambiguous, making it difficult for the reader to follow the development of the trends. To reach a higher band, focus on using cohesive devices to link sentences and paragraphs more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'proportion' where 'number' or 'figure' would be more accurate. There are also instances of awkward word choices, such as 'fatal wound recorded meagre figure' and 'the proportion was strip to the peak'. These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. To improve, work on using more precise terminology for describing statistical trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and ensure you are using words in their correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('The total was showed'), subject-verb agreement errors ('the figure was observed increase'), and awkward sentence construction ('the proportion was reached the level of zero'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally impede the flow of the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and proofreading for common errors such as article usage, verb forms, and prepositions.
