Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features and trends of the data. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with specific data from the table. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting. For example, you state that 2004-2005 had the highest number of injuries, but the table shows 2005-2006 for some categories, and your calculation of the total percentage increase is slightly confusing in its presentation. To reach a higher band, ensure that your data extraction is precise and that you clearly distinguish between the different categories of injury when making comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific trends. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Initially', 'however', and 'then', to link ideas. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the description of fatal wounds and serious accidents is abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear central theme would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cumulative increase', 'recorded', and 'dramatically'. However, there are some word choice errors, such as 'kept of increasing' (should be 'kept increasing') and 'accidents' (when referring to crimes). To improve, try to use more precise collocations related to statistical reporting, such as 'witnessed a steady climb' or 'experienced a significant surge'. Your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the sophistication required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'kept of increasing' and 'upto a value of', which indicate a lack of control over prepositions and verb phrases. Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as the comma usage in the overview sentence. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct prepositional usage will help improve your accuracy.
