Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. While you have attempted to identify some trends, the summary is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the main features. The data interpretation is also inaccurate; for instance, you mention a decline in 2003 and specific figures for 2006-2007 that do not align with standard interpretations of such datasets. To improve, ensure you cover all categories (fatal, serious, slight) consistently across the entire period and provide a clear, accurate summary of the overall trends rather than listing isolated figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes misused, such as the transition 'However the numbers has been declined in 2003', which does not effectively link the preceding information. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logic of the data presentation. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as grouping data by trends rather than just listing years.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'unavoidable results of crime' and 'blight' (likely intended to mean 'slight'). The phrasing 'total 864 cases were accounted in' is unnatural. To reach a higher band, you need to use a more precise range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant surge'. Avoid using informal or imprecise language and focus on using subject-specific terminology correctly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'crime that commited by Britain' (passive voice error), 'there was total 864 cases were accounted in' (redundant verb usage), and 'the numbers has been declined' (subject-verb agreement and tense error). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of passive voice, which is essential for describing data in Task 1.
