Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0
The response fails to meet the requirements of an Academic Task 1 report. Instead of objectively summarizing the data from the table, you have included personal opinions about the justice system and crime rates, which are irrelevant to the task. Furthermore, the data provided is inaccurate and poorly presented; you have listed figures that do not clearly correspond to the categories of fatal, serious, and slight injuries, and the formatting is confusing. To improve, you must focus solely on describing the trends and comparing the figures provided in the prompt without adding external commentary or subjective analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a logical structure. While you have used headings like 'INTRODUCTION' and 'MAIN BODY', the content within these sections does not follow a coherent progression. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'day by day'. Paragraphing is present but does not serve to organize the information effectively. The transition between the introduction and the body is abrupt, and the conclusion introduces no summary of the data, instead offering a generic statement about government policy.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
Your vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic words like 'crime', 'injuries', and 'doing'. There is little attempt to use academic or precise vocabulary suitable for describing statistical data. Phrases such as 'total rate of damage percent' are imprecise and do not accurately describe the figures in the table. To reach a higher band, you should learn specific terminology for reporting data, such as 'significant increase', 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'This table give us'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'we are not being catch'), and punctuation errors, such as the misuse of periods and spacing. The sentence structures are predominantly simple and repetitive. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring correct tense usage and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
