Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the data, including the three categories of injury and the percentage increases. However, the overview is slightly weak; while it identifies the trends, it lacks a clear synthesis of the overall pattern. The data selection is generally accurate, but the report could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the categories rather than listing them in isolation. The inclusion of specific figures like '95 injuries' and '405%' is good, but the analysis of the 'Great Britain' context is slightly limited by the focus on individual years rather than the overall trend across the decade.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the categories. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'Looking further' and 'Contrary to it' feel slightly unnatural or forced. The progression of ideas is clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother with a more varied range of linking words. Referencing is generally clear, though the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be more sophisticated to improve the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. Phrases like 'death causing' are non-standard; 'fatal' is the correct term, which you used later, but consistency is needed. The use of 'drastic' is appropriate, but other descriptors are somewhat repetitive. There is an attempt to use academic vocabulary, but it is limited. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise collocations related to data reporting, such as 'witnessed a significant surge' or 'remained relatively stable', rather than relying on basic verbs like 'happened' or 'recorded'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'serious injuries remains' (subject-verb agreement) and 'in between the both' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor issues with sentence structure, such as the opening sentence which is slightly clunky. While the meaning is always clear, the control over complex structures is inconsistent. Increasing the variety of sentence types and ensuring subject-verb agreement will help improve the accuracy and range of your writing.
