Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to provide a clear overview of the main trends, which is a critical requirement for Task 1. Instead, it presents a repetitive, year-by-year listing of data points. By focusing on individual years rather than grouping information or highlighting significant changes, the response lacks a clear summary of the main features. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, as it stops abruptly while describing the 2002-2003 data, failing to cover the entire period up to 2007 or the overall percentage increases mentioned in the prompt. The lack of synthesis and the failure to complete the task significantly limit the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text lacks paragraphing, appearing as a single, dense block of information. The progression of ideas is mechanical and repetitive, relying heavily on the word 'whereas' to link clauses. There is no logical structure or clear transition between the years. The use of cohesive devices is extremely limited and often misused, such as the frequent, awkward repetition of 'whereas' and 'sufferred'. The lack of effective paragraphing and the absence of a clear organizational structure make the text difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student uses the same few verbs, such as 'sufferred' (which is also misspelled) and 'faced', throughout the text. There is no attempt to use a range of vocabulary to describe trends or data, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'declined', or 'significant'. Spelling errors are frequent, including 'sufferred' and 'indiviuals'. The lack of variety and the persistent spelling issues prevent the response from demonstrating the range required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, repetitive sentence structures. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, and punctuation is poor, with missing spaces after commas and periods, and incorrect use of semicolons. Errors are frequent and systematic, particularly in subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. For example, 'there are total three categories' and 'the count fatal injuries has been decreased' demonstrate a lack of control over basic grammatical rules. These errors frequently impede the flow of the text.
