Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to cover all parts of the task effectively. While you identify the main trends, the data selection is incomplete and inconsistent. For instance, you mention 'no record given for 2006-2007' for serious injuries, yet the table provides data for that period. Furthermore, the final paragraph is incomplete, ending abruptly without providing the full comparison or the final percentage increase. To improve, ensure you report all key data points accurately and complete your sentences to provide a full overview of the trends. The summary of the 'percentage increase' is also underdeveloped.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the logical progression is hindered by the incomplete final sentence and some awkward transitions. The use of cohesive devices is limited; for example, 'Looking time period from year 1998 to 2003' is grammatically incorrect and does not function well as a transition. To reach a higher band, use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', 'Consequently') to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, finished structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You use basic phrases like 'number of people' and 'increased significantly' repeatedly. There are also some errors in word choice, such as 'increase proportion' instead of 'percentage increase' and 'felling' instead of 'falling'. To improve, try to incorporate more specific vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'surged', 'plummeted', or 'marginal', and ensure you use collocations correctly to convey your meaning more professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent errors in articles ('the number of three different types'), prepositions ('Looking time period from'), and verb forms ('percentage kept increasing and stopped at 3296 number'). Some sentences are fragmented or lack necessary components, such as the final sentence which is incomplete. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
