The provided statistics illustrate the intensity of damage caused by crime that made use of gun and knife in Great Britain from the year 1998 to 2007, it also depicts the percentage elevation for every degree of injury during the years.

Overall, it is evident that the number for less fatal and rather slight injuries is more than the severe ones and over the period the total amount has only increased.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response identifies the main features and trends, but the analysis is somewhat fragmented. While you mention the overall increase, the reporting of specific data points is confusing. For instance, stating '254 serious, 1030 slight accidents were increased' is unclear and does not accurately reflect the table's data. You also struggle to synthesize the information, relying on a year-by-year list rather than grouping data to highlight significant trends. To improve, focus on comparing the categories (fatal, serious, slight) and identifying the most notable changes across the two periods (1998-2003 and 2003-2007) rather than listing individual years.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is not always logical. The transition between the first and second periods is abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical (e.g., 'From 1998 to 2003', 'During 2003 to 2007'). Some sentences lack clear links to the previous ones, making the flow feel disjointed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would significantly enhance the readability and logical flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision required for a higher band. You use terms like 'mishappening' and 'happenings', which are not appropriate in a formal report context; 'incidents' or 'offenses' would be more suitable. There is also some repetition of basic verbs. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to statistics and trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'surged', or 'a significant upward trend', rather than relying on general terms like 'increased' or 'amount'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors that occasionally hinder clarity. For example, 'crime that made use of gun and knife' is awkward; 'gun and knife-related crime' would be better. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases (e.g., 'the number for less fatal... is more than the severe ones'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of your writing. Focus on subject-verb agreement and refining your sentence construction.
