Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the overall trends and specific figures for the three categories. However, the reporting of data is occasionally inaccurate or confusing. For instance, you mention 'critical injuries were doubled with 476' in 2000-2007, but the table shows 476 as the figure for 2000-2001. Furthermore, the summary of the percentage increase is vague, as you do not specify the actual percentages provided in the table. To improve, ensure that data points are cited precisely and that comparisons between the years are clearly linked to the provided figures rather than generalized statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Meanwhile', 'Additionally', and 'To sum up'. However, the flow is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, the transition 'Meanwhile by 2000- 2007' is slightly unnatural. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as when you refer to 'critical injuries' without having established that term earlier. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the internal cohesion within sentences could be smoother to improve the overall readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'representing', and 'percentage increase'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and unnatural collocations. For example, 'increased numerously' is not standard English; 'rose significantly' or 'increased substantially' would be more appropriate. You also use 'critical injuries' as a synonym for 'serious injuries', which is slightly imprecise. There is also a repetitive use of 'injuries' and 'year'. Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on more precise collocations will help you reach a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'serious injuries were accounted for 162' (passive voice error), 'fatal remained fluctuated' (missing noun/subject), and 'slight injuries rises incredibly' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are inconsistencies in spacing and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that passive constructions are used correctly. Reducing these frequent errors will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
