Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response provides an overview and selects key data points, but the analysis is inconsistent. You successfully identify the main trends and the overall percentage increases. However, the reporting of specific figures is often confusing or inaccurate. For example, you mention 'highly injured patient' instead of using the categories provided (fatal, serious, slight). Furthermore, the description of the data is sometimes contradictory, such as stating the lowest number of serious injuries was 162 in 1998-1999, but then failing to clearly contrast this with the peak. The summary of the percentage increases is a good attempt at synthesis, but the overall clarity of the data reporting needs improvement to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Again, in the year of' and 'Moreover, highest number of' feel forced and do not always link ideas logically. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when discussing specific years and figures, making it difficult to follow the progression of the data. While there is an attempt to use transition words, the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and punctuation errors, which hinders the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is limited and contains several inaccuracies. You rely on basic terms like 'number of' and 'injured patients' repeatedly. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'highly injured patient' instead of 'serious injuries' and 'shoot to' which is too informal for an academic report. The phrase 'number of fatal patients' is also imprecise, as it refers to the statistics of injuries rather than the patients themselves. To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to data reporting and avoiding repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include missing articles ('in year of'), incorrect verb forms ('founded' instead of 'found'), and inconsistent tense usage. Punctuation is also problematic, with spaces missing after commas and periods, and inconsistent use of hyphens in date ranges. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would be beneficial.
