Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have attempted to identify some trends, the analysis is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the data. You have not adequately addressed the 'percentage increase' aspect of the prompt, which is a key feature of the table. Furthermore, the information provided is somewhat confusing and lacks the necessary detail to fully report the main features. To improve, ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, provide a clear summary of the data, and meet the minimum length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the transitions between sentences are often mechanical or awkward, such as the use of 'moreover' and 'however' in ways that do not always connect ideas logically. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the trends you are describing. To improve, focus on using cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'died' and 'dead rate' instead of more precise academic vocabulary such as 'fatalities' or 'mortality rate'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'the both injury by this weapons was raise'. To improve, try to incorporate a wider range of vocabulary related to statistics and trends, and pay closer attention to the correct form of words (e.g., using nouns instead of verbs where appropriate).
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'the dead rate was decreased moreover, the injuries are increased' and 'the both injury by this weapons was raise'. You rely heavily on simple sentence structures, and your attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors in subject-verb agreement and tense usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for punctuation errors, particularly regarding spacing after commas and periods.
