Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the trends for fatal, serious, and slight injuries, and correctly identifies the percentage increases. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical. While you mention the missing data for 2006-2007, you could have integrated this more smoothly into the overview or body paragraphs. The comparison between the categories is present, but the reporting of figures is occasionally repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that the 'main features' are highlighted more clearly in the overview, rather than just listing data points in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and supporting body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly forced or mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between the description of the trends and the final summary of percentages could be improved to create a more cohesive narrative. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'dominated', and 'considerably'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and non-standard collocations, such as 'outcoming from', 'increasement', and 'least enhancement'. These errors occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that word forms (e.g., 'increase' vs 'increasement') are used correctly. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, but lacks the precision required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the number of fatal injuries fluctuated as per given period' (missing articles) and 'there were missing information' (subject-verb agreement). Some phrasing is also unnatural, such as 'reaching at 476'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammar and refining the use of articles and prepositions will help improve your score.
