Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the table, such as the overall upward trend and the breakdown of injury types. However, the reporting is inconsistent. You list data for specific years (1998-2002) but then jump to a summary of percentage increases without providing a clear overview of the middle years or a more cohesive comparison. The data selection is somewhat mechanical, listing figures rather than synthesizing them into a clear narrative. To improve, ensure you group data logically—for instance, by comparing the growth rates of fatal versus slight injuries—rather than just listing numbers chronologically.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a good start. However, the flow between sentences is often disjointed. You rely on simple listing rather than using cohesive devices to link ideas. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. There are also issues with punctuation spacing, such as '95,392,1390', which makes the text difficult to read. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') would help the reader follow your argument more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You repeat the word 'injuries' frequently and use basic phrasing like 'number goes on increasing'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'percentage increment of this injuries'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and reporting verbs. For example, instead of 'the number goes on increasing', you could use 'the figures experienced a consistent upward trajectory' or 'there was a marked rise in all categories'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'total number of injuries was 864', 'slight injuries were more'), missing articles, and incorrect comma usage. The sentence 'In 2001-2002 ,the fatal , serious and slight injuries was 95,392,1390 respectively' is grammatically incorrect and poorly punctuated. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring correct subject-verb agreement will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
