Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends effectively. While it mentions the three categories of injury, the description of the data is disorganized and lacks precision. For example, stating 'in 2006-2007 there is no data present' is an inaccurate interpretation of the table, which likely shows a blank space rather than an absence of data. Furthermore, the report lacks a clear comparison between the categories, and the 'percentage increase' mentioned in the prompt is entirely ignored. The information is presented in a fragmented manner, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the overall trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'According to insights' and 'In crime table', which do not fit the context of a data report. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is disjointed. The structure lacks a cohesive introduction and a clear summary of the main features, which is essential for Task 1. The overall arrangement of information is somewhat confusing, as the data points are listed without a clear analytical structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'dcreased', 'rised', 'flutchuated', and 'similerly'. The student relies on basic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'increased' and 'rising', without using more precise academic alternatives like 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable'. The misuse of terms like 'slightly injury' instead of 'slight injuries' further demonstrates a lack of control over lexical items. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to data trends and improving spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'The table depict' and 'the fatal injuries was'. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'the crime rate... has been increased by gun and knife and the injury is also increased'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters for proper nouns like 'Britain'. The lack of control over basic grammar significantly limits the ability to convey information accurately and professionally.
